Birdies for Charity Update

The golf tournament that hosts Birdies for Charity has been cancelled due to COVID-19.
The John Deere Classic in Silvis, Ill., had been planned for July 6–12.

Birdies for Charity enables companies, foundations, and individuals to pledge to a charity or charities of their choice either a minimum of one cent for each birdie recorded at the tournament or a lumpsum donation. Online donations will still be accepted. All donors will be eligible for a random drawing for traditional prizes including the grand prize of a two-year lease on a Lexus NX sport utility vehicle. The John Deere Classic is committed to providing a 5% bonus match for all donations.

Information about Birdies for Charity is available at:

Before the cancellation, the BVM Office of Development registered to participate in Birdies for Charity to enhance a remodel of the Motherhouse Chapel. Plans include purchasing new movable partitions, holy water font, pedestal for the tabernacle, and ramp to increase accessibility. Once aware of the tournament cancellation, we decided not to send letters with pledge forms. We realize gifts may not be possible in these uncertain times and with so many dire needs of other non-profit organizations especially during this global pandemic.
