Associate Josanne McCarver April 24, 1931–December 10, 2021

Associate and former BVM Josanne McCarver died on December 10, 2021, in Minnesota. Josanne was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas (Tom) McCarver, and is survived by children, Tom (Jeannie) McCarver, Chris (Tara) McCarver, and Megan (Tim) Altier and 11 grandchildren.

Josanne was born in Chicago and was educated by the BVM Sisters at Our Lady of the Angels in Chicago, Our Lady of the Angels Academy in Clinton Iowa, and Mundelein College where she earned a B.A. in History.  She worked at Clarke College as a reference librarian.

Josanne, along with her husband Tom, was accepted as an associate on November 29, 1982, and was accompanied by BVMs Carolyn Farrell, Mary Richardine Quirk, Kathleen Mullin, and Sisters of the Clarke community.  In her associate agreement, Josanne shared that she would like to “share in the spiritual life of the BVMs through private and shared prayer, liturgies and concern for justice.” In her letter of recommendation, Carolyn Farrell wrote about both Tom and Josanne, “I believe that their personal goals relate to ours. They see this relationship with us as support to them as they continue to live out the Gospel message.”

There are no service details at this time.

Condolences to her family can be sent to her daughter, Megan.
